Sailing is a sport that combines the disciplines of physics, fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, material science, and meteorology. This talk will explain why going less than 10 miles per hour can be a hair-raising experience. We will discuss aspects of boat design, sail selection and trim, and sailboat racing. This seminar will be geared toward giving people an idea of the science that goes into sailing, why sailing is fun, and how to get involved.
Snacks will be provided.
