Using colormaps

You can change the colormap associated with the plotted variables. Double click on the Molecule plot, go to the Colors tab. Click on the "Color Table for scalars" tab to bring up a list of inbuilt colormaps in VisIt. Select the "Hot" colormap. Note that you can set the min and max values onto which the blue and red colors map respectively.

Sometimes it is useful to create your own colormap. Bring up the Controls->Color Table window. Click on some colormap, enter the name of the new map you want to create and press "New". Choose between a discrete and continuous type and enter the number of colors. You can experiment with positioning the colors in the continuous case. Remember to hit 'Export' to save your changes.
