Annotating Molecular plots

You can refine the look and feel of your plot by bringing up the Controls->Annotation Window. Goto the general tab and uncheck Database information and User information.

You can then go to the 3D tab, uncheck axes, triad and bounding box options.

Background colors can have a dramatic effect. Try changing the background stye to gradient and gradient color to gray.

Finally, you can control placement of individual legends and insert text. Select the Legend corresponding to bond length. Uncheck the "Let VisIt manage legend position" option. Set the orientation to horizontal. Select an appropriate position. Uhcheck the title option. If the text is too dark on the background, you can set the text color to white.

Your final plot should closely resemble the figure on the left after following all of the steps above.
