I used AVS/Express to interactively select points on slices of the tomogram along the membranes. The image on the left shows the orginal points, the image on the middle shows my raw triangulation of the sets of points. I could make patches of the surface (the ones on this image were not smoothed) but joining them was not so easy to do. The image on the right used the same set of points and NormFet to calculate the normals, AMLS to smooth the point cloud and Cocone to construct the surface. A more careful selection of points will produce better results.

After the reconstruction with Cocone I used VTK to make the normals consistent and read the VTK output into AVS/Express.
